I got the new Smoosh CD, "Free To Stay." It's really really good. I love these two girls, I think they're amazing. I believe they were only 11 and 13 when this album was created. It's so important that I made an LJ post about it.

So it's again been a long time since I've updated. My memory is really bad and I of course won't remember everything I've been doing this weekend. Hmm..

Well, tonight I went to see Snakes on a Plane with Dana, Pam and her boyfriend, Kev. That movie made my life. It was what I expected and then more. Snakes on crack, kickboxers giving piggyback rides... amazing. Afterwards we all went to the collegeville diner. It was delish. When we weren't watching SoaP, we were flinging Grandma's Boy quotes at each other. Which reminds me, is the funniest movie ever.
The Folk Fest is outside my house right now. I went Friday, paid to get in. I got my free pass for today and went again. I think I may go again tomorrow. I've been spending so much money lately.. Anyway, the folk fest is amazing as usual. The atmosphere there is just amazing. That's the only way to describe it. Everyone just chills and listens to music. In the wooded area there are a bunch of hammocks people lay on all day, it's great just chill there and keep the music in the back of your mind, talk and just enjoy yourself.
I went to Wildwood with Dana a couple weeks ago which was really cool. Did the typical beach thing, fun.
I only work two more days, Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday, Dana and I are shopping for college things! Thursday I collect all my shit, and on Friday, my birthday... college. I can hardly believe that I'm going to be going to college soon. It just recently hit me. I'm going to love it so much. Oh, man.
The rest of my summer has been average summer stuff, being really busy and just doing stuff. I can't think of a way to close this off.

I'm going to buy a longboard skateboard to use to get around the Tambler campus. A longboard would be great for me because I like to skate, but I don't have the commitment to learn tricks. A longboard proudly boasts, "I'm here to skate, not to earn mad props." Dana and I are gonna pick out the sweetest one there is. Probably on the interweb. I'm pretty psyched about it.

Tub Ring show.
Me and Dana freaking went to go see Tub Ring in freaking Wilkes-Barre on May 25, it was awesome. The venue, more like hole in the wall, had a total of probably thirty people when it was most packed. I honestly expected it to be an Electric Factory-type atmosphere, with the place packed, but oh well. Karate High School played with about fifteen people there, and they were decent.
After that, I went to go buy a Tub Ring shirt and I came back to Dana, and I said something like "fuckin' Tub Ring." Then, some creature lurking in the shadows two seats next to her, eating popcorn, said "Thanks for buying that shirt, man." Holy shit, it was Rob Kleiner from the band. We shot the shit for a little bit and talked and I shook his hand and stuff and it was awesome. He asked if I wanted to request a song, and I fucking did. Bite The Wax Tadpole.
Look What I Did played after, and they sucked. The headman was definitely on something, I don't know what.
Tub Ring came on. I believe they started out with their robot trilogy, and their set seemed to be more of their very hardcore stuff, which I didn't know a lot of in terms of lyrics, because I can't really tell what they're saying when they're screaming. It didn't matter, they still kicked ass. During their one moshing song, the crowd started beating up on each other and of course I hopped in. During the opening of I Could Never Fall In Love With You, Kevin came up and put his arm around me and we fucking sang the opening lyrics together. It was amazing. During another one of their very hardcore song during the thrashing part, I forget which one, Rob decided to hop on top of the keyboard and start humping it. It was hilarious. He was climbing on top of it all night and jumping and doing sweet tricks off it all night, it was amazing. They put out so much energy, and I've been waiting to see them for so long, they were fucking sweet as hell.
Afterwards, Dog Fashion Disco played. I really liked them too, but Dana didn't so much so we left halfway through. But I was really glad that she liked TR. We tried to start her car but it wouldn't go. We had some random guy outside the place come and jump us. Then we left.

OKAY OUTDOOR SCHOOL! This happened just last Wednesday to Friday. We had a cabin-full of kids, me and my fellow counselors, Blake and Zack gave them all nicknames. Brown, The Blob, Screech, Pai Mei, Pippin, Squirrely, Candy Man, and someone else. I named our cabin the Dream Team. Whenever I shouted "DREAM TEAM, ASSEMBLE" they had to get into a single-file line, in alphabetical order according to the nicknames we gave them. It was sweet. Also, at one point, Pai Mei kept pushing my buttons, so I took him outside the cabin and dumped him into the one huge trash can used by all the five boys cabins. This became infamous amongst the counselors and punishment became morally allowed. On the last day, one of Chris' kids kept throwing pencils at him and calling him gay, so he gave him a wedge and hung him by the bedpost.
Outdoor school was awesome. The kids all loved us, and it was a great experience.

PROM '06

It started out I went over to Serena's picked her up blah blah. She had a black with white polka-dot thing going on and I had... oh my god you just have to see it was awesome. Pictures later.
WE'RE AT GALEN'S HOUSE WAITING FOR THE LIMO. People get there. The limo comes. It's a van. Just a big van. I paid $85 for a van. But whatev, it got us all there.
PROM!
Almost right when we walk in, me and Serena hit the dance floor with maybe two other couples already there. They got off the floor, and so do we. About five minutes later, a badass '80s song comes on and we knew what we had to do. With the entire floor empty and most of the people there, except sitting at their tables, we started dancing alone. It was fucking awesome. We both danced so good and we did that for about twenty minutes, just us, dancing like fucking machines. Photographers and video people came around and filmed us doing our thang. Canned Heat even came on which was amazing. That was the climax of the entire night. Dancing to Canned Heat with Serena alone on the dance floor. Good Lord.
After all that we go back to our table with all our frands and we do the chat thing and the buffet thing. Afterwards we're both like "Let's dance." So, we hit the floor alone again and start dancing, and this time a few more couples come up to join. About five minutes in, Serena hurts her leg. She was dropping to the floor (we didn't do gay typical "GET ON THE FLO!" moves the whole night, only when it was totally necessary). However, when she came back up, she hurt her leg. I had to carry her out to the lobby and we put ice on it and blah blah she hurt her leg really bad and one of her friends was leaving early, so she left with him
So there I am. By this time, the entire fucking floor is packed, everyone's dancing. What am I to do?
Dance some fucking more.
I dancing with probably about twenty different more people throughout the last hour and a half, some people I didn't even know and just came up to dance with me. It was amazing.
Then, it was all over. I was kind of in a state of shock, I mean my senior year was almost over and it was yesterday I was in Salford Hills learning how to read. It was crazy. By the way, I'm going to be a counselor for SH's Outdoor School thing, which will be awesome. Anyway; after party.
After party was at Chris Balch's house, along with six other people, I believe. So much freaking fun. Turning on the tube at about three in the morning to watch softcore porn on HBO. Chris was completely trashed and I was only a little buzzed, and we.. well to say what we talked about would sound really gay over a journal entry, it's one of those had to be there and know the people things? But it was awesome. Crashed at his place and woke up at 9:30 to go home.

Best night of my fucking life. It was amazing. Pictures will ensue and you'll all be envious.

WHAT IS THIS, A TOKYO PRESS CONFERENCE?

So many hoops I had to hop through to go to this concert. People providing rides, then not at the last second. People being able to go, then not being able to go. Vice versa. Trying to use up all the tickets. Grizzly bears. Seas of fire. It was crazy.

The final crew ended up being me, Mahlon, Galen, Mike, Elena, Troy, Marissa and Kevin. I didn't really know the last two people too well. We got there at around 7:10 (parents drove me, Mahlon and Galen, Troy drove the rest of the crew). We arrived on South Street and walked to the TLA and waited in line. I counted the folk as I passed them to get in line, it was about twenty. I flipped. That means free foam hands.

We wait around for a little, then these people with huge boxes come out and start handing out FJENREE FOUAM AHFNDS. Oh, Lawd! I got super amped. We then walked in, and got us a good spot behind about two rows of people. Bought two shirts, one for moi and one for my sister. They handed out free demo tapes from '89 with every purchase and it was badass. Waited around, the venue filled up. People started getting antsy and started cheering and screaming whenever a roadie would walk across the stage.

Soon, Michael Leviton took the stage. He was absolutely blazed. and whenever someone would yell something from the crowd he was get this smile on him and go "heh heh..." He played a ukulele for a few songs by himself, and two other songs with a lady on the glockenspiel. His songs were very mellow, and were about the ocean-type things, and pretty much outdoor themes. "Summer's The Worst," "Tip Of Your Iceberg," "Boring Island." He told us about how he came to get the idea for Boring Island; he went to a kindergarten class and told kids to think up ideas for a song about an island. "They started saying 'Television Island?' Terrible. Then they said 'Disneyland Island,' even worse. Then, some obnoxious and annoying kid said 'How about BORING Island..' and I'm like... genius." His stuff was really good, especially for being mellow and stuff, it held my attention and I thought it was enjoyable.

Then, The Last Car came on. They consisted of one dude and two chicks. They were pretty good, too. They did three songs about Mr. T that were hilarious. I don't know what really to say about them except the skinny blonde with the curly hair always looked kinda angry, and the other chick was kinda gothy-looking. The guy was really badass though, can't really describe him except like a normal guy.

They left the stage. My heart started pounding, I knew They would take the stage soon.

It turned out to be NOT so soon, it took around fifteen-twenty minutes for the stage crew to get things all set up. They kind of kept your attention because they were all wearing these weird white jumpsuits, kind of like the ones the Oompa Loompas wore in Willy Wonka.

Then, They took the stage. No words to start it out, just music. They started off with a PERFECT song. Damn Good Times. Of course, the crowd went fucking batshit and flipped out all over the ceilings and stuff. I did. They continued to play a bunch of their songs, and John Flansburgh was always talking with the crowd and stuff like that, and he got right near the end of the stage and he was seriously five feet away from me. John Linnel (who, for those who don't know, plays keyboard and accordion for the band) played keyboard for most of the night, and he was right at the edge of the stage, and during all the songs he kept looking at the people towards the front, we made eye contact quite a few times and it was amazing. I know how queer that sounds but I don't care, he's a genius and it was awesome to be so close to him.

During "I'm Having A Heart Attack" during Fingertips, Flans started saying all this hilarious stuff, like "W-H-Y-Y spells WHY, girl!"

At Meet James Ensor, Linnel busted out the accordion and the crowd flipped out again. They started playing, and about thirty seconds into the song, Flansburgh messed up and stopped playing. This was all while a shitload of camera flashes (including mine) were going off, presumably to get pictures of Linnel on accordion accompanied by Flans on guitar. Anyway, Flans said something along the lines of "Hold on, hold on, stop. Sorry, all these camera flashes started messing me up, what is this, a Tokyo press conference?" It was fucking hilarious. Then they started over and it was awesome.

Before Drink!, Flans announced that TMBG had reached a low in their careers, and that they were turning to the bottle for comfort. He told us, "the interventionists," to shout "No way!" every time "Drink!" came along in the song. This is different from what he would usually tell the audience to echo, "Drink drink!" He added, "You can even squint your eyes and pump your fists!" Now, imagine them saying "Let's drink (whole crowd pumping their fists and squinting, "NO WAY!"), drink NO WAY, this town is so great. Drink NO WAY, drink NO WAY 'cause it's never too late; to drink NO WAY, drink NO WAY, to no big suprise, but what words rhyme with 'buried alive?' It was fucking crazy awesome.

They ended with Purple Toupee (they were playing a lot of songs off of their first album, which was great) and then They thanked the crowd and left the stage. Of course that wasn't enough. Much cheering and shouting later, They returned to play the song they made specifically for the venue, "TLA," Dead (which was AWESOME... one of Their best songs), and New York City.

They left a second time, at which point the crowd started chanting "They Might Be Giants!" in the way it's said during the chorus of the self-titled track, which was pretty awesome and funny. Linnel and the drummer took the stage by themselves and Linnel played this very spacy song that I've never heard before on his apparently-named Kaoss pad (like a keyboard-esque thing, but it had a lot of very strange sounds) while the drummer played the electrical drums. They continued playing, then Flans and the other guitarist entered the stage and took hold of their tools, and they led the song into Snail Shell, which was awesome.

The next song was Istanbul(Not Constantinople), before which the guitarist led into by playing a very, very sweet solo on a classical guitar for about a minute. It started off slow, but got rapidly faster, and it was amazing, honestly one of the biggest highlights of the show; it's hard to describe. It got me thinking "This guy is a great guitarist, it's sort of a shame that as long as he's in this band, he'll always be in the shadow of the Johns." And of course, Istanbul was fucking great.

Afterwards, They played a different version of TLA, and they thoroughly thanked the crowd and left the stage.

Halfway through the show, I started feeling sick. Probably the combination of constantly screaming, not having eaten anything in a while, and being totally fucking amped for about six hours straight. But I never gave up, I had to keep rockin'.

I couldn't believe it was already over. The greatest experience of my life. I heard some TMBG show elites talking about how this was one of the best shows they ever did, and this being my first TMBG show, I'd have to say it fucking ruled so hard. Everything was perfect. I could not ask for a better night. The only thing I can say to close this out, is that I can't wait 'til the next one.
OH MY FUCKING GOD

When I saw this, my heart stopped for a second.
They Might Be Giants. $20.
Friday. Noon. I'm calling out sick from school. I'm getting these fucking tickets.

IN OTHER CONCERT NEWS!!
I looked at other tickets you could purchase on TicketMaster, and all tickets seem to have an extra service fee. This means that if you are attending any concert, take the current price and add around $5 to get how much you will end up paying me. When I found out what the exact service fee is, I will contact everyone individually. And you WILL pay me. I have a friend whose family is in the mob. I am not joking.
The Tub Ring party has grown to 8, and the TMBG party to 11. TUB RING TICKETS ARE $10
This means that both times we are going to need a good way to get there and back. I am thinking about a small bus that holds around 12 people, like the size of a sped bus. I wonder how much that would cost? I tried looking at the Hagey site but they didn't give prices. Does anyone else know any good bus companies around here that would do something similar? Please tell me.
The window of opportunity is closing, so unless I've spoken to you before about attending, you will have to beg me to add you onto the OFFICIAL LIST.

From viewing it so much, I've come to one definite conclusion:

There is seriously something fucking wrong with Russian people.

QUESTION:
HOW do you get ten sexy teenagers from the suburbs of Schwenksville to center-city Philadelphia? I've thrown around the idea of a limo. Found out recently it would be too expensive. Most recent idea was taking two or three cars to the train station, going to Philly, walking to the Theater of Living Arts, hoping not to get molested and/or shot on the way. On the way back, that may be a problem because it will be around midnight. What do you say? Is the train/walk idea awesome enough?

Here is the deal. Tub Ring. Montclair, NJ on May 24. $10. That's hella cheap. I'm going. If you want to go, tell me.

THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS. MAY 12. Theater of the Living Arts, Philly. I don't know how much it is, but probably less than $30. Keep in mind I would pay $100 to see this band. Including myself, I have six people going to this show right now. If you want in, make sure you're going, and I will put your name down on a list of people, and I will buy the tickets accordingly. If it turns out you can't go and you tell me like a day after I buy the tickets, I have no soul and you will still have to pay me the money. I want to buy these tickets as early as I can and also keep in mind that there is no fucking way in hell that I am going to miss this show, I will kill to attend it.

So yeah, contact me if you want to go to the Tub Ring or TMBG show, ESPECIALLY the TMBG show. I want to have a lot of people going, it will be a really fun night. I've talked to people who have gone to their shows and they say they put on an amazing show every time. I've seen pictures and videos of Tub Ring shows, and I can only imagine what their show is going to be like. I am so fuckin' amped.

Things are really awesome right now. I didn't want to leave my LJ on a negative note. Things are good now. Friends are good. The only downer- I left my hat in someone's car that I never really talk to much. So now I'm going to have to scourge the halls of Souderton to find him. I'm starting to fool around with my hair, trying to do something with it; not that I think regular curly down is bad, I am just looking for a change. I went on a cruise last week, and got a temporary Buddha tattoo. I then suntanned the next day. With no lotion. For many many hours. I was writhing in pain later that day; in a fit of pain and anger I scratched off the tattoo. I realized the next day that I have a burnt-on Buddha on my stomach. The skin is starting to peel around there but it's still a little visible. I'm very happy that it might be sticking around with me for a little longer. Thanks, Buddha.

Oh, and can someone help me out changing my LJ layout? For one, it got a little messed up for whatever reason (I think LJ was changing something and the HTML code in some journals got messed up or something. Andy was talking about something like that.) Plus, I just want a new face on this thang.

Friday night, another night pretty much doing nothing except working. It's not like I never hang with people, it's just that I feel like a loser when I'm sitting here on my ass on a weekend night going "okay now what." I wish there was something to do or someone to go hang with. But, I don't feel like calling anyone.

I have discussed this with Andy, and decided to make this a group discussion: how would you guys survive a zombie apocalypse?! Andy says his Adidas training would help him but that's only if you have slow-moving foot-dragging '70s zombies. The zombies of the NEW MILENNIUM!!!! are fast and adrenaline-powered. They can run faster than you and can kick your ass close-range. Get bitten and you are toast. Zombie toast. What would you do to protect yourselves?! You have to remember: think about what happens if you are caught off-guard and are forced to tangle with one of these slippery vaginas. Chainsaws, shotguns, and a team of survivors including a weak link, a self-righteous asshole and a black man is mandatory, we are thinking outside the box here!! DISCUSS
